The Story

From the workshop of Paul Newson in Mesick, Michigan; an F-5 Fern Mandolin of exquisite styling, complete with points, scroll, and f-holes. Features include a double bound figured maple body, with bound peghead, neck, and raised pickguard; black and white purfling adjoins the ivoroid bindings. The top is a carved piece of Adirondack spruce, braced with parallel tone bars, all in two-color sunburst finish under French polish. Equipped with ebony fingerboard and adjustable bridge, 4-on-a-plate tuners, and stamped brass tailpiece (original damaged tailpiece in case). Appointments include ivoroid bindings with black and white purfling, pearl Newson logo and dot inlays, ebony overlay, and abalone fern inlay. Original hard shell case included. Made in Michigan, USA.
